Hello Benington Homeowners!

I have scheduled Phil Ballard, Public Information Director for Knox County Property Assessor's Office, to speak to us so we can better understand how property assessments are computed and how it affects our property taxes.

For everyone's convenience we are going to all attend this meeting by using our telephones to dial into my conference call line. We will all call in and Phil will share a few bullet points but more importantly we will all be able to ask any question we have.

Meeting will be August 9 at 6:30 PM EST. Pls call in 5-10 minutes early to make sure you get into the meeting. We will be starting exactly at 6:30 PM.

Benington Homeowners:

Wanted to give you a quick update on the Beautification Committee meeting we had tonight with myself, Kevin Mischler and Emily Thompson.

Since Kevin has a lot of homes to look after in his section as a Block Chairperson Emily has agreed to take the lead but thank you to Kevin for your contributions as well. Kevin had some great stories already from handing out the new Resident Welcome packets and is enjoying meeting more of his neighbors.

In addition to leading the Beautification Committee Emily will also be in charge of evaluating and awarding a Yard of the Month!

Emily will receive nominations from Block Chairpersons by the 15th of each month and will start in October!

Winners of this program will have special recognition on our website including a picture of them in front of their home. This will save us the worry of the signs getting stolen, will help keep our website dynamic each month and will allow the winners to have recognition well beyond just one month.

Emily will also be contributing to the website and our quarterly newsletter with tips and ideas for us to spruce up our yards or the exterior of our homes.

Great job Emily! Thank you for all your work!

I heard the Decorating Committee talking tonight about putting out the fall decorations around our entrances!

Soon Halloween will be here. What a great time to create a real sense of neighborhood and community for our kids by having a get together for them on your street or block. Last year I saw several homeowners on Halifax coming together to create some really cool parties and events! Let's at least be ready with tons of candy for them.

Also, the fall neighborhood garage sale has been planned for October 23rd. We will post the signs in plenty of time so the traffic on Ebenezer and Bluegrass will be aware along with posting an ad in the paper.
